Description

In August 2022, Massachusetts implemented legislation to fast-track decarbonization efforts in both new and existing buildings throughout the commonwealth. This legislation, outlined in Section 26 of An Act Driving Clean Energy and Offshore Wind, brings notable changes to the Mass Save® program.

Effective January 1, 2025, the Sponsors of Mass Save will no longer issue incentives tied to new fossil fuel equipment or new construction projects incorporating fossil fuel equipment. Consequently, Mass Save Sponsors will introduce new electrification requirements for program eligibility.

Any new buildings, homes or building additions enrolling in our residential new construction programs must be fully electrified to participate. This includes space heating, ventilation air heating, domestic water heating and kitchen equipment. The one exception is for natural gas domestic water heating in multi-family buildings.

This webinar includes more in-depth insights into these program changes.
